Master Planning, Detailed Site Design, Construction Administration & Stewardship Advisor
Between 2013 and 2020, Living Habitats was integrally involved in the master planning, detailed site design, restoration design, construction administration and ongoing stewardship oversight for a 720-acre parcel of open space in the Western Coulee Region. Prairie, savanna, woodland, wetland and aquatic ecosystems are being restored and integrated with impactful cultural elements both existing and planned.
The gorgeous property is an important open space and is home to many birds, mammals, amphibians, invertebrates and plants. The site’s restored and remnant acreage has been reintroduced to prescribed fire practices, and many portions of the expansive site have improved in floristic quality since restoration work started.
The site also includes two lakes; one 20-acres of open water, and the second 30-acres that are linked together. These significant aquatic resources serve as home to many species and now include beautiful, restored shoreline habitats as preliminary phases of the master plan have been executed, ensuring the site’s natural habitats are a future haven for important wildlife historically found in the region.
